Switchin Out Foam

Description: The Conductor of today's Third La Mirada local keeps an eye on traffic approaching the grade crossing on Kimberly, while the crew switches out tank cars from the foam plant located to the Conductor's left. You can tell this is the Conductor because he has the "Book" - the orange thing in his back pocket that has a list of the contents of all the cars and what empties they are supposed to pick up and where each car is supposed to go.

Riding the Shove Across State College

Description: Here the conductor on the left, and the brakeman on the right of today's Third La Mirada local ride the shove Westward down the Kimberly Industrial Lead while crossing State College Boulevard in Fullerton California to rejoin the remainder of their train including AT&SF Caboose #999795 that was left tied down in front of the Kimberly Clark Mill.

Description: A pair of former AT&SF SD60M's in Warbonnet paint switch tank cars at a foam plant on the Kimberly Industrial Lead in Fullerton. It took a lot of self disciplinary to not photo shop off the few BNSF markings that are on these units. #149 looks pretty good as it sits, and a little cloning on the "B" end of #104 with a swipe under the window would have just about done it. ()

BNSF 4149 at Fullerton, CA - 1/27/08

Description: Amtrak #3 departed Chicago with two operating P42DCs (93 and 116) and one dead-heading unit (113). By the time #3 got to Colorado, 116 had died, and 113 could not be started, so FURX SD40-2 8130 was added. But it was cut off in Barstow, and BNSF 4149 was added - but the damage was done as the train was now over 7 hours late into Los Angeles.

Description: Even though I was looking to photograph the Marlboro, the UP local job, I ended up getting some cooperation from the BNSF and their 3LM job instead. The B23-7 lead engine was an added bonus.
