- BNSF - A Yahoo Group discussing the operations of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Anything related to BNSF and Burlington Northern and the Santa Fe Railroad, before the merger. Also, past operations of the two roads. - Cajon Pass Group - The Cajon Pass Group gathers all those people interested in that part of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad that goes from San Bernardino to Victorville, California, known as Cajon Pass. The Cajon Pass Discussion Group is an on-line discussion for persons involved in the Cajon Pass Group. Our purpose is to pool our resources and our research efforts and to share information among those of us who are interested in modeling Cajon Pass or who want to help preserve the railroad history of that area. - California Trains - A group based upon our own Chris Walker's website. - Calrailfans - Calrailfans is a list whose mission is to keep us informed of the railroad happenings in the State of California. Discussion should be focused on California, but general railfan questions and discussion including the states of Nevada, Oregon, and Arizona is welcome. - Citrus Modeling - The Citrus Industry Modeling Group is a group for modelers, railfans and historians. The first purpose of this group is to collect, preserve and share information about the citrus industry in Southern California as it pertains to the operations of the Santa Fe, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads. This includes citrus farming, packing and shipping activities and the equipment, practices and economic aspects related to these activities. The second purpose of this group is to use this information to create accurate and realistic representations of the citrus industry and related railroad equipment and operations on model railroads. - Orange County Railroad Branches - News, updates and photos of railroad activity on the Orange County California branch lines. Current as well as historical contributions are gladly welcomed. - So Cal Rails - So Cal Rails is a group dedicated to the railroads of Southern California, past and present. For all railfans who love places such as Tehachapi, Cajon, the Needles Sub, the former ATSF Surf Line. From Tehachapi to San Diego and the Mexican border... This is the place to discuss it all. - Espee Forever - This group is for lovers of the Southern Pacific RR or "Espee" TODAY and represents the "current" and former SP, SSW and DRGW. Other sites have prohibited the continuing coverage of the SP today. - Foamers - The Foamers' List exists for the exchange of timely information about Western Railroading. Foamers exists for the dissemination of breaking news and information on trains which are en route or recently spotted. - Tehachapi Railfans - Tehachapi Railfans is a gathering place for those interested in railroading in the Tehachapi area and the Antelope Valley. If its railroad related from this area, this is the place to post it. Topics discussed can include history, operations, modeling, memorabilia, and recollections relating to railroading in the Tehachapi area. - Railfan Photo - Discussion of topics related to railroad photography including cameras, film and other hardware, web sites and posting photos on the internet, information sharing of good railroad photo locations and any other rail-photography related topic. - Tunnelmotors - This group is to talk about tunnel motors. The Tunnel motor was first built back in the early 1970's by EMD for Southern Pacific Cotton Belt and Denver & Rio Grande Western. - Union Pacific - This list is for discussion and info on the Union Pacific Railroad, its history, modern operations, and its many locomotives. |

Everyone who worked on the building was an artist in his line. This of course includes John W. Gallareto, designer and builder. No expense was spared too produce a proper and appropriate treasury to house the valuable historical items on display in the Museum. Los Angeles Railroad Heritage Foundation The mission of the Los Angeles Railroad Heritage Foundation is to diligently preserve and dynamically present the history of railroading and demonstrate the impact railroads have made — and continue to make — on the social and economic fabric of Los Angeles and Southern California. - 1500 West Alhambra Road in Alhambra, California. The Pacific Railroad Museum in the San Dimas Station PRS operates the Pacific Railroad Museum in the former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe depot in San Dimas, California. Our goal is to restore the depot to represent a working railroad station. Artifacts and exhibits on various aspects of railroading are on display there. The depot also houses our extensive railroad research library containing books, documents, maps and photographs collected since the 1930s. This facility is open to the public and staffed by PRS volunteers. - 210 W. Bonita Ave, San Dimas, California (909) 394-0616 Santa Susana Depot Under the overall guidance, financing and volunteer help of the Simi Valley Parks and Recreation Department and the Rancho Simi Historical Foundation, the depot was purchased and subsequently moved to its present location, and has been beautifully restored as close as possible to its original 1903 authenticity. Located within the waiting room and dispatcher/ticket office is the Rancho Simi Foundation’s museum. - Located in Simi Valley, California (805) 581-3462 Southern California Chapter Railway and Locomotive Historical Society The Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, founded in 1921, is the oldest organization in North America devoted to railroad history. Its object is to promote research and to encourage preservation and documentation of all facets of railroading. This chapter takes pleasure in welcoming you to it's display at Fairplex, on the grounds of the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona, California. A small group of devoted railroad historians gathered in a home in the spring of 1953 and set the wheels in motion to organize this local chapter and on June 5, 1953 the deed was done. This exhibit first opened in 1954 with our first acquisition, the Climax geared type locomotive, #3. It was donated by Sunkist Growers, Inc. Since that time 7 more locomotives, a Heavyweight Pullman Lounge, a Santa Fe wooden Caboose, Refrigerator car, an AT&SF Horse Express car and two track motor cars have been added to the rolling stock exhibit. The center of Museum activities is the former Santa Fe Depot from Arcadia, California. This was given to the Society in the summer of 1969. Built in 1895, it witnessed the daily passing of the Santa Fe's finest trains but became obsolete with the coming of the 210 Freeway. It had to be moved or demolished and so it is now preserved as a classic example of a 19th Century Santa Fe Station. - Located at the fairplex in Pomona, California (909) 623-0190 Travel Town Museum In the late 1940s, Charley Atkins, a Recreation and Parks employee, along with a handful of rail enthusiast friends, had the idea that a steam locomotive would make an attractive addition at the Griffith Park miniature railroad ride. The original intention of the Museum was to be a "railroad petting zoo," an opportunity for the children of Los Angeles to "imagineer" themselves as engineers. The City of Los Angeles Harbor Department had two little engines destined for scrap that seemed to fit the bill. The idea escalated as Atkins, with the enthusiastic support of former Recreation and Parks Department General Manager George Hjelte and Superintendent of Recreation William Frederickson, initiated contacts with major railroads in California to determine what equipment they might be willing to donate. At that time, the steam locomotive era was drawing to a close, and Atkins found a good response. Travel Town was dedicated on December 14, 1952. The concept of a combined transportation museum and recreation center blossomed, and wishes for donations were generously fulfilled. In 1965, Travel Town's exhibits were re-grouped, and the park re-dedicated. Today, Travel Town is in a state of new growth and development. W.A.R.M. provides educational forums with interpretive and historical displays that focuses on both Railroad History and the development of Railroad Technology. W.A.R.M. encompasses not only the past, but the present and future as well, realizing that such a broad scope is essential to understanding the role of western railroading in America. - 685 North First Street, Barstow, CA 92311 (760) 256-WARM San Berdnadino Railroad Historical Society The SBRHS was formed in 1981 to restore Santa Fe locomotive 3751, and is composed of hundreds of individuals interested in the heritage and preservation of “The Steam Era”. Accountants, artists, small business owners, dentists, designers, engineers, railroaders, retired railroaders, pharmacists, painters, truck drivers, mechanics, welders, politicians, and lawyers all work side by side with the same goals in mind. Our primary focus has been the complete restoration and operation of 3751, with a secondary focus of collecting historically relevant pieces of Santa Fe heritage for preservation. With our primary task of restoration completed, the organization has now turned to protecting the engine from the elements. San Diego County Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum - Campo Location The Museum's main facility is located in Campo California, a pleasant fifty-mile drive east of downtown San Diego. Most of the Museum's collection is on display in Campo, where guided "hands-on" walking tours are given following the excursions (when docents are available). Over eighty major pieces of railroad equipment, including steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars and cabooses are available for inspection and interpretation. - 31123-1/2 Highway 94, Campo, California 91906 (619) 478-9937 Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum - La Mesa Depot Location In 1974, the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association located and purchased the remains of the building, again for one dollar. In 1980-1981 the building was returned to its original site and, using money from a federal grant, was restored to its 1915 condition. Preservation was truly a labor of love for volunteers of the San Diego Railroad Museum, with help from members of the La Mesa Historical Society. Today the Railroad Museum owns and maintains the building, and the City of La Mesa owns and maintains the grounds and land beneath it. The public is admitted free to the La Mesa Depot Museum for tours on weekend afternoons. Visitors can inspect the steam locomotive and string of freight cars on the nearby track and pass through the ticket/waiting area and view the telegrapher's station and a small exhibit area in the baggage room. This building and its past are a fascinating look at a bit of small-town railroading from yesteryear and its importance to the community it served. - 4695 Nebo Drive, La Mesa, CA 91941 San Diego Model Railroad Museum The mission of the San Diego Model Railroad Museum is to preserve the heritage of railroading through a series of miniature representations of California railroads; research and preserve the history of model railroading; and educate the public in the many different aspects of railroading. At 24,000 sq. ft., the museum is the largest indoor model railroad display in the world. The individual HO and N scale layouts are among largest of their type. Construction of the model railroads is accomplished by volunteer club members (approximately. 320). Santa Barbara County Goleta CA Depot Museum - South Coast Railroad Museum - The South Coast Railroad Museum at Goleta Depot is dedicated to the history, technology, and adventure of railroading. Special emphasis is placed on the railroad's contributions to local history, on the Southern Pacific Railroad, and on the key historical role of the railroad depot in rural community life across America. South Coast Railroad Museum Goleta Depot is a Victorian-styled Southern Pacific Railroad station, built in 1901 by the Southern Pacific Railroad. The historical landmark and architectural treasure is located at picturesque Lake Los Carneros County Park.
