Thumbs up Rush - Replay x3 DVD!

Nowe sure how many of you Rush fans out there noticed, but today was the release of the Rush dvd Rush - Replay x3. This is a rerelease of Rush' older concert videos, Exit Stage Left, Grace Under Pressure and a Show of Hands. As a fan I've been waiting for this days for years and years. God has finally blessed us all with this release.

At first glance the remastered audio in 5.1 is incredible! And then cleaning of the video itself looks great! Below is the official press release. I will be doing some serious rocking tonight..........

RUSH’S FIRST THREE CONCERT HOMEVIDEOS DEBUT ON DVD IN

RUSH REPLAY X 3 BOX SET
Four-Disc Package Features New 5.1 Surround Sound And Stereo Mixes

The band’s first three concert homevideos, each of which is out of print in any format, will be issued for the first time together and on DVD. The four-disc box set Rush Replay x 3 (Mercury/UMe), released June 13, 2006, combines the three DVDs-- Exit…Stage Left, Grace Under Pressure and A Show Of Hands--with a never-before-released CD soundtrack version of Grace Under Pressure.

Each DVD features new 5.1 surround sound and stereo mixes created by guitarist Alex Lifeson and Mike Fraser from the original concert multi-tracks as well as digitally transferred and remastered visuals. The package also includes mini reprints of the original tour booklets for the three concerts.

In 1981, the double LP Exit…Stage Left was released. The 60-minute homevideo of the same name, filmed March 27, 1981 at The Forum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, includes “Limelight,” “Tom Sawyer,” “The Trees,” “Xanadu,” “Red Barchetta,” “Freewill,” “Closer To The Heart” and “YYZ.”

The 70-minute-plus Grace Under Pressure, released 1985, was shot at Maple Leaf Gardens in Rush’s hometown of Toronto. Some of the songs included are; as “The Spirit Of Radio” ,“New World Man” “The Enemy Within,” “Distant Early Warning,” “Red Sector A,” , “Witch Hunt” and a finale of “Vital Signs”/“Finding My Way”/“In the Mood.”

A Show Of Hands released in 1991 is the the 90-minute video of a 1988 concert in Birmingham, England nearly duplicates the songs on the same-named live album. Perennial favorites were joined by newer songs such as “Marathon,” “Turn The Page,” “Manhattan Project” and “Force Ten,” plus an encore medley of “2112”/“La Villa Strangiato”/“In The Mood.”

Whoo Hooo ...

Air Guitar Solos... or do you play Air Drums?

I am more of an Air Drummer for Rush... as if I could keep up with Neil anyways.

Luckily for me I play real guitar and Rush is one of my bands to jam too, but no jamming tonight, just drooling and watching!

That DVD sounds like a must have. I just put them at #1 on my Netflix que to check them out! (Thanks for the heads up)

I own the Rush Chronicles DVD and even though I love it, I have always wished there was more of their older concert footage in it (and less from their studio/practice room synced to the recordings).

Does anyone here own the Exit Stage Left* concert on DVD?????

Through the 70' and 80's UK BBC Radio One carried a heavy rock programme for 2 hours on Friday night late, I can still remember the original RUSH album review. Brenda and me went to the first UK tour concert when it came to Manchester, bit of a rock chick in those days she was, now more like a Hell's Granny (still likes Floyd & Zepp)with a withering turn to pillar of salt look on young kids!(she's a teacher). I assume it'll be out here also, they tend to do pan-world releases these days. It'll make a change from the videos of Cajon and Tehachapi. Wishing you all audioscopic pleasures! Harold

Watching disc #1 right now....surround sound pumping in dolby....actual full song length clips (with talking between) from the Exit Stage Left tour....I am in Rush Heaven.

Updated after watching the disc:

It was really neat seeing songs on this DVD that were not on the cd, like Limelight, By Tor and the Snow dog, and a medly that included the closure to 2112. That was COOL!!

The monologues between the songs did not interfere with the music and added some insights I hadn't thought of or known (such as the comment just before Red Barchetta ).

Songs that were on the CD but are MISSING from the DVD were: Spirt of Radio, Passage to Bangkok, Beneath, Between, and Behind, Jacob's Ladder, Broon's Bane and (*GASP!*) La Villa Strangiato.

Thanks for the heads up Dave... I have been looking for somthing new from RUSH for a while now, and with this release... It will sure bring back many great memorys of attending RUSH concerts during the 80's and early 90's (Ten in all), During that time I could not get enough Rush... and I still love listening to them evry chance I get. >Bob<

Are you sure they are missing? The website says there are a lot of Easter Eggs on the DVD.. you just have to know how to find them.

Just a thought.
